Ask Us > Does Bupivacaine incorrectly administered present as this?

Last year my mother presented with severe endometriosis pain and underwent a laparscopy/hysteroscopy for scar tissue removal. When she woke up she could not move her feet and complained of leg pain.

A year later from walking into the surgery she is now completely disabled without the use of her legs. EMG Nerve conduction studies and Urodynamic studies confirm loss of bladder and bowel control. Complete sexual dysfunction. Daily burning pain in lower limbs, even speech issues and inability to find words.

During my own private investigation, I found not on the official notes, that she had received a Marcain (Bupivacaine) epidural.

My question is, would it be wise to continue a path of investigation looking at whether the long-term effect of marcain in-correctly administered could produce her symptoms? Studies into this area are proving hard to find.

Further notes possibly relevant / possible not:
My MRI scans show three tarlov cysts in spinal cord. Also an arachnoid appearing growth towards the rear of her cerebellum (was suggested only an imaging artifact, waiting for second MRI to confirm).
