Ask Us > Lipid solubility resource

Folks,

I am preparing a case report for publication regarding treatment of a diphenhydramine overdose using lipid emulsion. I am attempting to find a user-friendly resource for determining the pKa/lipophilicity of drugs at physiologic pH. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Hi Jason. Feel free to tell us more about your case...that won't preclude your writing it up for peer-review publication. Meantime, there are at least three options for finding this information:

1. Block and Beale, Wilson and Givold's Organic Medicinal and Pharmacutical Chemistry. Appendix.

2. Chemspider.com

3. Google

if you're looking specifically for benedryl, logP = 3.66; logD (pH7) = 1.92; pKa (BH+) = 8.76
