Ask Us > out of date LipidRescue

My centre currently uses intralipid as a treatment for regional anaesthetic toxicity. Our pharmacy is unable to supply new stock so we may be forced to use out of date stock should the need occur. Does any body have experience of how this preparation degrades over time?

not known...except in the lab where I can say it definitely goes off over time.
especially once it's opened (not a problem in the clinical situation, I hope). but it does have a shelf life and I would be reluctant to use if past the date.
sorry I can't be of more help. know you are not alone. I'm not sure of the cause for the shortage but am looking in to it.
