Ask Us > Use of Smart pumps

Recommended rate 0.25 ml/kg/min may easily exceed the maximum rate allowed on smart pumps. Ours is 999 mL/hr. In a hospital that has adapted the use of smart pumps, what would you suggest (i.e. slow the rate, not use a pump, use 2, etc.)? Based off case reports, safety at this rate didn't seem to be an issue as long as it didn't pass the upper cumulative limit. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I would also like to know the answer for this. We are having the same problem. For a 70 kg patient, the initial infusion rate would be 1050 ml/hr, which the pump cannot run.

Please let me know what your sites do!!!
