Post Your Cases > LAST following local Anaesthesia in Bone Marrow blood sampling.
Emergency call for loss of consciousness in the Outpatient Haematology Department for a 29yo female during a bone marrow blood sampling for Chronic Thrombocytopenia (on home medication with Prednisone 25mg once daily). The patient had just been administered with Mepivacaine 2% before starting the procedure, quickly developed seizures treated with Midazolam 5mg IV. We also started LipidRescue with 100ml bolus and 0.25ml/kg/min infusion for a total of 750ml within 60 minutes. CT scan was performed to rule out intracranial bleeding due to her thrombocytopenia, negative for intracranial pathology. The patient woke up 60 minutes later, GCS E4 V5 M6, complaining mild headache. She was monitored in ICU for a few hours and the trasferred to the haematology department for further monitoring and treatment of her underlying disease.
