Post Your Cases > Lipid treatment for persistent myoclonus after lumbar plexus block with bupivacaine
Pt was scheduled to have a R THA. We provided the patient with the option of receiving a Lumbar Plexus block for post-operative pain relief. The block was successfully done using 30cc 0.5% Bupivacaine with epi. There was no heme on intermittent aspiration. Pt showed no changes in vital signs during injection. About 2-3 min after completion of block, pt began to have persistent myoclonus. Pt was still able to communicate during this episode. 20% Interlipid was started at the recommended doses and within 3 min of initiation, pt was stable and the persistent myoclonus had stopped.
